PwC scores candidates against the PwC Professional, its global framework, and runs behavioral interviews back-to-back live. This guide covers the spoken fit rounds, not the online assessment or the Advisory case interview.
3 of 9 stages you can practise here
Online application through the PwC careers site. Early-careers roles are filled on a rolling basis, and once you are in the process you get about seven days from each invite to complete the next stage. Not simulated.
HR or recruiter screen on why PwC, which business area, and level fit
Required for most entry-level roles. In the UK it runs about an hour and measures 'cognitive skills, behaviours, natural preferences and reasoning abilities', pairing an untimed behavioural profile with a timed numerical, inductive and deductive reasoning test. Elsewhere it appears as short interactive activities based on real workplace situations. Not a spoken round.
On-demand questions recorded on your own time, where PwC says 'Your answers will be recorded and reviewed afterwards'. One-way, so out of scope.
Back-to-back behavioral interviews scored against the PwC Professional
A virtual immersive experience with up to five candidates, assessing the core skills and attributes PwC says are crucial for success. Australia describes the equivalent final stage as a group assessment plus a one-on-one interview. The group and immersive parts are out of scope; the interview is the final round below.
PwC states that 'the majority of our Advisory positions require a case interview as part of the interview process', and its strategy arm runs several case interviews back to back. A case needs exhibits and live quantitative checking, so it is a different mode and is excluded.
Final in-person interview with a senior leader from your matched business area
Feedback and the employment decision from the recruitment team, then background checks verifying grades and job history. Not simulated.
Built from what PwC publishes about its own process. No leaked question lists. The questions you get are generated against your own resume, so they are not from anyone else's interview.
'For Audit, Tax, and Digital Assurance and Transparency (DAT) roles, you will complete two behavioral interviews back-to-back live, virtually'; 'The majority of our Advisory positions require a case interview as part of the interview process'; an assessment required for most entry-level roles; 'the use of GenAI during the assessment and interview process is not permitted'; the PwC Professional as the framework candidates should know.
The two behaviour sets, Trusted Leadership ('a set of behaviours that prioritize the way we achieve outcomes') and Distinctive Outcomes ('a set of behaviours that enables us to bring our collective expertise, collaboration and inclusiveness to our stakeholders'), and that 'We use the framework throughout the recruitment process.'
The full early-careers stage list; an online assessment measuring 'cognitive skills, behaviours, natural preferences and reasoning abilities' with an outcome inside 48 hours; a recorded video interview whose answers 'will be recorded and reviewed afterwards'; a virtual assessment centre with up to five candidates; a recruiter matching call; an in-person Business Assessment with a senior leader; pre-employment screening.
Experienced-hire assessment types: ability tests, case studies for roles needing industry knowledge, in-tray exercises where you 'sort, prioritise and take action', and personality questionnaires; telephone, technical and face-to-face interview formats; a hiring framework assessing 'what you need to do in your role (the skills) and how you would do it (the behaviours)'.
The PwC Professional named as the source of 'The behaviours we expect you to demonstrate in the assessment process'; roles filled on a rolling basis; seven days to complete each stage after the invite.
The five-stage journey (application, preparation, interview, offer, onboarding); 'This may include an HR screening, interviews, and online assessments, depending on the role and location'; interviews run as 'one-on-one interviews, panels, or assessment centres'; assessments as 'short, interactive activities based on real workplace situations' measuring problem-solving, communication and teamwork; 'Final decisions are always made by people.'
The same four-step shape in another market: application form, online assessment, digital interview, then a final assessment run through a group assessment and a one-on-one interview.
