Bank of America

One of the few banks that publishes the mechanics of its recorded video round and a different stage list for each region: a superday in the Americas, an assessment center in EMEA, competency-based interviews in Asia Pacific. The technicals are the most merger-model weighted of the bulge brackets.

The Bank of America process

3 of 6 stages you can practise here

  1. 01
    Application (rolling)

Apply online through the Bank of America application system, plus any resume drop your careers service runs. Analyst internship and full-time recruiting happens on a rolling basis once applications open, and interviews often begin before the deadline, so the day a posting opens is the day to apply. You may apply to one office and one division per year.

  2. 02
    Application screening

Campus recruiting reviews applications as they arrive and programs close as positions fill. Requirements are set per program, and the bank asks for academic, professional and extracurricular strength plus a genuine, specific interest in its business.

  3. 03

The recorded round: 30 seconds to think, three minutes to answer, no follow-ups

  4. 04
    First and second round interviews

Bank of America runs first and second rounds by phone, via on-demand video, on campus or at a Bank of America office. On the banking side these are with analysts, associates and VPs: motivation and fit, plus analyst-level technicals that get firmer as the round goes on.

    Offer

An offer is developed and extended, then a formal contract letter is signed. The summer internship class is the primary source of hiring into the full-time campus programs, and offers are not deferrable.

Common questions

Is there a coding round in the Bank of America investment banking interview?
No. The Global Corporate & Investment Banking analyst loop is entirely spoken: an on-demand video interview, first and second round interviews, and a final round run by the business area. Coding assessments belong to the separate Global Technology track.
How long is the Bank of America video interview?
Around 20 to 30 minutes. Bank of America publishes the mechanics: 30 seconds to prepare each response and up to three minutes to answer, and it tells candidates to expect to use at least a minute and forty-five seconds per response. No follow-up questions are possible.
Does the Bank of America interview process differ by region?
Yes, and the bank publishes each version. In the U.S. and Canada interviews run by phone, on-demand video, on campus or in an office. In EMEA the video interview is part of the application itself and the final stage is an assessment center. In Asia Pacific the recorded stage is called the digital interview and runs on HireVue, and the final stage can include a group component or a presentation exercise.
When should I apply to Bank of America campus programs?
As early as possible. Analyst internship and full-time recruiting runs on a rolling basis once applications open, interviews often begin before the deadline, and programs close as positions fill. You may apply to one office and one division per year.
