BMO Capital Markets

Best known for a distinctive recorded video round that opens the funnel, usually with a markets question. After that it is fit-first: a VP or associate first round, then a fast superday with a behavioral seat, an associate technical seat and a VP vibe check.

Common questions

Is there a coding round in the BMO Capital Markets investment banking interview?
No. The BMO Capital Markets IB analyst loop is entirely spoken: a recorded video round, a fit-weighted first round, one analyst-level finance-fundamentals seat, and a superday. There is no coding round.
What is the BMO video interview?
A one-way recorded video round early in the funnel: preset prompts with short, timed answer windows and no live interviewer. It is behavioral (why BMO, why banking, a teamwork story) and characteristically includes one markets or current-events question.
How technical is the BMO investment banking interview?
Light, at the analyst level. The associate seat at the superday is the technical one and sometimes includes a simple DCF to lay out in Excel. Expect the three statements, enterprise vs equity value, valuation methods and a DCF walk. A full LBO model is not the bar.
When does BMO Capital Markets recruit in Canada?
Early. For a summer analyst class, applications typically close in February roughly a year before the May start, targeting penultimate-year students. Decisions after the superday tend to move within days.
