- Can I use AI tools in the DoorDash interview?
- As of 2025 DoorDash publicly rebuilt its engineering loop around AI. There is a dedicated AI-assisted working session where using your own AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) is expected and even required. In the other rounds, phone screen, onsite coding, system design, do not use AI unless the interviewer invites you to. The exact loop varies by team and level, so confirm yours with your recruiter.
- What does the DoorDash coding round look like?
- A ~60-minute practical, production-shaped problem in a shared editor (CoderPad or HackerRank CodePair). DoorDash favors correct, readable, tested code and often a debug-or-extend-existing-code exercise over abstract puzzles. Common topics are grid/graph BFS and DFS, intervals and scheduling, and data-structure design. Clarify before you code and add tests.
- What system design questions does DoorDash ask?
- Prompts come straight from its logistics marketplace: real-time Dasher-to-order dispatch and assignment, live location tracking, order-status notifications at scale, and geospatial nearby-restaurant search. Spend the first few minutes clarifying requirements, scale, and latency before designing. This round is lighter or skipped for new grads and central for senior (E5+) roles.

- Use STAR stories, and a repeatedly reported strong signal is reasoning across all three sides of the marketplace, consumers, merchants, and Dashers, rather than optimizing one at another's expense. Expect deep follow-ups on ownership, moving fast under ambiguity, and using data to make decisions. It is treated as one of the most important rounds.
