What they actually ask

The question shapes this round uses. Larpy does not read these out. It builds each one from your own resume, because the generic version is the one you have already rehearsed.

  • Design a cross-device clipboard or handoff feature that syncs near-instantly across iPhone, Mac, and Watch, with end-to-end encryption and conflict resolution.
  • Design an AirDrop-style peer-to-peer file-transfer feature between nearby devices.
  • Design an on-device cache with an eviction policy and thread safety for a feature operating under memory pressure.
  • Take an Apple-scale service end to end: clarify requirements, sketch the architecture and data model, and reason through trade-offs with privacy-by-design as a first-class constraint.

What this round is judged on

  • Requirements clarification · scoping before designing
  • Component design & data modeling · sound structure
  • Trade-offs & scalability · reasoned choices at scale
  • Privacy-by-design · Apple-specific first-class concern
  • Communication · clear verbal walkthrough

What happens in each stage
Recruiter / Hiring-Manager Screen
30-45 min spoken call, usually with a recruiter embedded in the hiring team, sometimes a separate hiring-manager screen. Covers background, role and team fit, motivation, level calibration; some teams merge the two.
Technical Phone Screen
One to three 45-60 min live-coding rounds on CoderPad; most teams let you pick your language. Data-structures/algorithms fundamentals plus complexity reasoning; some teams substitute domain/practical problems.
Onsite Loop (virtual or in-person)
~4-6 rounds clustered in one block consistently covering three capabilities: coding, system design, and behavioral/collaboration. Distinctive Apple trait: some rounds are run by a pair of interviewers at once.
Team Match / Debrief / Decision
Because hiring is team-owned, the interviewing team decides. There is generally no separate central hiring committee like Google's.

Built from what Apple publishes about its own process and from real interview data. No leaked question lists. The questions you get are generated against your own resume, so they are not from anyone else's interview.
